Kreek - Kreek
Kreek is an English band formed by former Bigfoot singer Anthony Ellis. After his departure from the group, the Frontiers Music label asked him if he wanted to continue working with them. Anthony Ellis therefore brought together Nick Clarke on guitars, Seb Sweet on drums and Lee Andrews on bass. This is how Kreek was born.
On February 12, Kreek will release his eponymous debut album. And it is clear that the album is of a high level, even if it will not revolutionize rock or music in general. Ten titles and already, the first, At The Bottom Of Hell is excellent. Hard rock, powerful but also melodic, electric, acoustic and an Anthony Ellis with incredible vocal abilities. A long magnificent track, embellished with a titanic solo.
Missiles is classic 80's hard rock and bands like Kick Axe and Icon. If you're a fan of hard rock, you'll love Meet Your Maker. Kreek, however, does not forget the melodic but it is clear that the guys are there to put us in our ears. Surprising. In the correct meaning of the term.
Same conclusion for Million Dollar Man with an exciting and groovy rhythm. Basic but devilishly effective. And what about that bass sound on One Voice ? Metal, funky, sexy. All on an Arabizing rhythm. The backing vocals are well put in place and the guitars interfere in our ears to never come out. The middle part with the solo is just amazing.
The rest is also very pleasant. Man On My Shoulder is melodic but strong hard rock, Stand Together is a mid tempo with big saturated guitars and an Anthony Ellis doing more than the job. Guitars, guitars and guitars. Against a background of huge bass, comes a prodigious riff on Down 'N Dirty. A riff that would make the most depressed of us happy.
Get Up is also that kind of jubilant hard rock that even your neighbors can only adore. Big bass, enjoyable backing vocals, and guitars teeming with saturation. You're On Your Own is an electric ballad. Not very original, nor the most beautiful in the world, but nice. In the style of Poison and the 80s.
To sum up, I like this first Kreek album which offers powerful, melodic and sometimes explosive and surprising hard rock. Well done guys and thanks again to this great label Frontiers Music for signing such good talents.
