Creye - II
Creye is a Swedish band who released an EP in 2017 and their first album in 2018. The Swedish band offers a very high level melodic rock embellished here and there with pop. The group's new singer, August Rauer, is accompanied by Andreas Gullstrand (founder of the band in 2015) on lead guitar, Fredrik Joakimsson on rhythm guitar, Joel Selsfors (also new to the band) on keyboards, Gustaf Örsta on bass and Arvid Filipsson on drums.
Lovers of big saturated guitars and wild rock, go your way because Creye offers us an AOR rock, that is to say a melodic rock with an ultra clean sound and a modern yet powerful and well-made production. It does not displease me that August Rauer's voice reminds me of Richard Marx, a melodic idol of the 80s (he still releases records). The voice of August is completely adapted to the music of the band, it is attractive and pleasant and the titles are listened to without ever any displeasure.
Broken Highway is the prime example of what Creye offers. A beautiful melodic line, a sumptuous song and melodious guitars. As well as choirs well put together. But the rhythm is not left out as Carry On proves, with its beautiful keyboard linzs, as well as the lively Find A Reason on which the guitars are somewhat dominated by the keyboards of Joel Selsfors.
Siberia is a potential hit. Irresistible, a lively rhythm, a listening pleasure never denied. A hymn to life. Just like the rest for that matter. Face To Face, with an implacable chorus and convincing guitars (excellent solo by Andreas Gullstrand), Can't Stop What We Started, which Richard Marx would have loved to compose and sing, I'm sure.
Lost Without You opens with a nice piano, keyboards and a melodic rhythm. It's fresh, airy, springtime. Turn up the volume, don't hesitate, it's your neighbors who ask you. Hold Back The Night is also calibrated FM rock, American radios. An unstoppable chorus, so well placed backing vocals and guitars that remind you that Creye is a melodic but also a rock band. And that synth sound that takes you back to the 80s.
I really like this guitar riff on Let The World Know. Infallible. Just like the magnificent Closer. Creye undeniably has a sense of chorus, composition and melodic rock fans will find themselves in the titles of this album. August Rauer also knows how to sing the quieter moments, the intro of The Greatest, on which the drums of Arvid Filipsson mix with our heartbeats.
War of Love sumptuously closes this second Swedish album. Listen carefully to the guitars on headphones. Creye II is a very good AOR rock album. I repeat, don't look for wild guitars, dinosaur beats and deep, hoarse vocals. But if you like melodic, clean and modern productions then this album is for you. It has been out since January 22.
